CLA Welcome Letter

July 31, 2019

On behalf of the Canadian Lacrosse Association, I would like to welcome all of the athletes, coaches, officials, supporters and fans to Kelowna, British Columbia for the 2019 CLA Boys Field Lacrosse National Championship. Spectators will get to witness this year’s most competitive youth field lacrosse being played in our country. We are certain that lasting memories will be created for everyone involved.

First, I’d like to congratulate the hard-working athletes who have made it this far. After innumerable hours spent at practices and games, you have the unique privilege of competing for a national championship. You should be proud to participate in the highest level of competition in Canada. Not only will you be competing against the best players in the country, you and your team are counted among those best players. During the competition, remember to enjoy the moment and realize the significance of your accomplishment.

A lot of time and effort has gone into planning this event and we wish to thank the host organizing committee and the numerous volunteers. We know they have worked tirelessly over the past year to make this event happen. It is thanks to these individuals and their contributions that the national championships continue to be a success.

Lacrosse is Canada's national summer sport and we are very proud of its rich history and cultural significance. Many who have attended lacrosse national championships have gone on to create a lasting legacy for the sport in their community. It is our hope that this passion for lacrosse and development of the game is something you will carry with you throughout your life. Your continued involvement in our sport will help it grow and achieve the greatness that we all know it can.

Best of luck to all of the athletes and coaches. Enjoy your time in Kelowna and let the games begin!
Yours in lacrosse,

J.J. (Joey) Harris
